Tiger’s Tempo

OK so rather predictably on Thursday morning, just as I was getting into full swing on the carbo loading front, the Mount Solitary Marathon was postponed. For the second time this year I’ve tapered for nothing and wasted a good week of potential training. Never mind, I’m getting used to it.

After an easy week I was very happy to join Easy Tiger (now in full winter distance training mode) for his 16k tempo session around the Bay. We did this one a couple times together last year in an attempt to save the Tiger from his wagering debts with Chairman Tom. It’s a great session. As ET says, whatever happens you get something out of it. Target pace was 3:45/km and we were spot on at halfway. I felt pretty comfortable so pushed a bit harder and ran the second half averaging 3:39/km covering the 16km in 59:22. I was happy with the session but afterwards my right hip/hammy/ITB were complaining again. Whatever it is, it’s still not fixed and so Sunday was a shortened 17.5km at the Striders Willoughby Winder.

The rest of the weekend was taken up with gardening, chores and not enough drinking or sleeping. The kids were staying with the outlaws so we went to the movies on Saturday night and watched some complete and utter shite called “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen”. Seriously – don’t bother. It was dreadful. On the plus side we had breakfast at Cornersmith in Marrickville and it was awesome! Definitely lives up to the hype.

Easy commute runs Mon/Tues. Another half-marathon session with ET planned for tomorrow. Hope the procrastinating baker is going to make some Anzac Biscuits while I’m out. Liberal amounts of butter please!

How can you say that about a film with Ewan McGregor!

He may have a big cock but he’s a rubbish actor. Really, I don’t know the word: it was the opposite of compelling.

Don’t listen to him Reem – it wasn’t that bad and I’m with you on the Ewan bit. I am also a fan of Emily Blunt (Tony thought she was shit too). I suspect I will not be allowed to choose the movie next time.

Has he got a big cock?

    Apparently. So I’ve been told.
