Mogo long run

I’ve been taking it very easy on the South Coast, running every other day and getting lots of sleep. I’ve had a few late afternoon “top nud” runs in the bush behind Batehaven. There are some good hills around Deep Creek Dam and I’m hoping to crank up the training over the remaining week.

Yesterday was 32 km on dirt roads and firetrails with Amanda and “hill reps” Dave. We did a variation on our usual long run route in Mogo State Forest, starting and finishing at Mogo’s Oval:
Buckenboura Road
Right at Quart Pot Road
Right at Ross Ridge Road
Left at Firebreak Road
Right at Runnyford Road
Cross highway into Mogo Trig Road
Left into Dog Trap Road
Return through Mogo Town

This was a bit better than the old route. Firebreak Road is more pleasant than Ross Ridge Road (less exposed and nice views down into Buckenboura).

One idea for next week is to do an out-and-back on the Corn Trail near Clyde Mountain. Sounds like a great walking route and if it’s suitable for horses then I’m guessing it’s runnable. However, I’ve not been able to find any up to date information on the state of the track since it was reopened for the Bicentenary celebrations.

We’re having a couple of nights in Berry (without kids) so will probably do a couple of runs into Kangaroo Valley too. I could get used to this life of leisure!
