Tourist Trot

Had a great evening at The Glenmore on Sat night saying farewell to Tucks, off for his sabbatical in Wales. It will be interesting to see how he goes after a few months as a full time athlete.

DB put the call out to the Striders for a rare convening of the Sunday 6:30am group. About 7 of us turned up in the end for the Tourist Trot including DB, Guz, Action’s mate Mark, Ray, CT and Hurt’s Laura who had been tricked into coming by Tim who was a no show! The pace was quick right from the get-go and my legs were feeling yesterday’s reps and last night’s beers. It was hard work. Pretty quickly we split in two with Guz, Ray and Laura dropping back and me hanging onto the back of the other three. The trailing group took a shortcut and we re-grouped on the other side of the Harbour Bridge, but DB was showing no mercy and we quickly split up again. I had to call a few tactical bubbler breaks to stay in touch but eventually with about 3km to go, on the climb from Woolloomooloo to the Cross, Chris and I got dropped.

28km in 4:11/km average. There were a lot of sub-4kms in the second half. It was a good reminder of the 6 or 7 years ago when many Stars were like this. Back then I ran some of my best races so I need to get a mailing list together of potential 6:30’ers and try to revive it on a more regular basis.

You can count me in for some of the weekend sessions. Would love to do some faster long group runs. iangallagher16@live.co.uk

Cool. I’ll let you know if I can get enough interest to do it regularly.
