Wet Tuesday

My calf was a bit sore after the long run on Sunday so I took a rest day Monday (and slept for about 10 hours Sunday night!).  As a result I was a fresh as a daisy for the 45-minute tempo session this lunchtime. The rain was nice to run in and kept the crowds down a bit through the Quay. With Tom absent (hammy) and Bartles taking it easy before the 5000m I was on my own out front until I came across Kanser coming down Hickson Rd. He joined me to the turn (6.33km, 3:33/km) and pushed the pace all the way back to the Quay. I managed to keep the momentum through the gardens and reached the pillars with 40 seconds to spare (3:27/km return). Very happy with that, and it felt reasonably comfortable. It’s amazing what a rest day can do. 22km for the day.
