Northern Beaches Long Run

Joined Tom, Macca and Ray for a long run on the northern beaches. Tom and Ray raced the 5000m on the track last night (impressive PB 15:36 for Tom) so I was expecting a relaxed pace for our long run – I was wrong. We seemed to be running mostly 4:15-4:30s. We were also forced to go a bit longer after being turned back by some grumpy golfers around the lake. After about 28km the pace picked up for a fast finish with a few 3:45s. We reached 36km in an average of 4:18s, then jogged in the last 2.5km for 38.5km total. I resisted the urge to have my emergency gel and was fully spent. Calves are a bit sore too.
