Durras Mountain

We had a family picnic today at Pebbly Beach, so I headed out for a run over Durras Mountain to Pretty Beach and back. Nice 16 km run under the trees, and although very humid, the ocean breeze was nice. The climb is about 300m each way, single-track on the Pebbly side and 4WD on the Pretty side. At the summit there are good views out to sea and inland to Pigeon House Mountain and beyond. I didn’t trust the tank water at Pretty Beach so was quite thirsty on the return leg. Saw two red-bellied black snakes on the path which got the heart rate up for a while. I really ought to have carried a snake bandage.

The last couple of weeks has been lots of slow plodding, off-road hill running. A good strength block but I feel very sluggish and in need of some intervals and tempo runs on the road. Back to work and back to HuRTS next week.
